In Q1 2011, Google earned US$2.34 billion ($9.36 billion annualized), or 28% of total revenue, through AdSense. Google pays out a lot of this revenue to those who advertise for them. From my experience Google Adsense pays the best (and I tried out many other options). But for those who don’t use Adsense for whatever reason here is a list of some alternatives.
Adbrite
AdBrite serves ads on 112,009 sites, according to their published stats, and is the 10th largest ad network on the Internet, according to Media Metrix. Attributor survey ranked AdBrite as the 6th largest ad server in 2008 with a 2% share of the market.
Chitika
In 2010 Yahoo! closed their AdSense competitor Yahoo Publisher Network Online (YPNO) and subsequently recommended publishers migrate to Chitika as a replacement. Chitika offers search-targeted advertising solutions. The ad units can be used on websites alongside with Google AdSense or as an AdSense alternative.
Clicksor
Clicksor is a contextual advertising network which functions by allowing advertisers to match pre-selected keywords or channels within particular internet content. The advertising formats include inline text links, banners, graphical and rich media banners and pop-under ads. Payment for these ads may be on a CPC, CPV or CPM basis. The minimum charge for advertisers is $20, and the minimum payout for web-content publishers is $50. Clicksor claims to be able to target via time-targeting and geographical targeting, in addition to their keyword based system.
Bidvertiser
A professional contextual advertising network that Offers only contextual and feed advertisements. It is very similar to Google AdSense. Displays textual ads depending on content of your site [context related ads]. You will not get enough earnings until unless you get very good traffic. Best for high traffic blogs.
Infolinks
Specialized in In-Text advertising Infolinks indexes your page looking for keywords and phrases that are not currently linked and converts those words into advertising links. Best thing is that you can use Infolinks ads to compliment your other advertising programs.
